AUTOIMMUNE THYROID DECODED™

About the Authors

Robin Christian, DNP, FNP-C, APRN

Robin Christian did not find functional medicine through a textbook. She found it in an emergency room, staring at a blood pressure reading that should not have been possible for someone who had done everything right.

In less than two months, she gained thirty pounds, landed on three blood pressure medications, and heard the phrase that would eventually become the opening line of this book: Your labs are normal. She had been treated for hypothyroidism for over twenty years. No one had ever checked whether her immune system was attacking her thyroid. No one had connected the dots. When they finally did, she was off all three medications within two weeks.

That experience changed the direction of her career. With over 31 years as a registered nurse, 28 years as a board-certified family nurse practitioner, and advanced education as a Doctor of Nursing Practice, Robin brought decades of clinical expertise to a question most providers never ask: Why is this happening?

She is a Certified Natural Functional Medicine Practitioner through The Gaeta Institute and is Board Certified by the American Association of Natural Wellness Practitioners. She is also a published researcher and co-author of a 2021 peer-reviewed systematic review in JBI Evidence Synthesis confirming that women with normal TSH but elevated thyroid antibodies experience measurably worse quality of life. She did not just read the research that validates this book. She helped build it.

She specializes in root-cause clinical care for women with autoimmune disorders, chronic fatigue, hormonal disruption, and metabolic dysfunction. The women most providers have stopped looking for answers for. Robin’s position is simple and non-negotiable: when a woman says something is wrong, it is. Her job is to find out what. Robin has performed hundreds of Decoded Mineral AssessmentsTM in her clinical practice, making the hair mineral analysis one of the most consistently utilized diagnostic tools in her work with women who have been dismissed by standard testing.

She does not settle for managed. She looks for restoration. And she wrote this book because she needed it once, and she knows you need it now.

Christy Leigh Anderson, MSNEd, FNP-C, APRN

Christy Anderson spent most of her life fighting her body. From childhood on, the weight was a battle. Up. Down. Up again. She was always cold. Always tired. Always feeling like her body moved in slow motion.

The frustrating part? She is not uneducated. She is a nurse practitioner. She has taught pathophysiology. She understands how the body is supposed to work. And everything in her training pointed to thyroid dysfunction. Yet every time she had labs drawn, she was told the same thing: You’re fine.

After her second child at 42, the weight gain accelerated. She reached 240 pounds doing exactly what she teaches patients to do. Nutrition. Exercise. Discipline. Nothing worked. She started questioning herself: If the labs are normal, maybe it’s me.

It was not her. It was overload. Comprehensive testing revealed her thyroid and adrenal systems were severely stressed. Once she stopped chasing weight and started nourishing her physiology, her body began to cooperate. Today, she maintains between 130 and 135 pounds. But the number that matters more is this: her brain works, her energy is steady, and she is no longer dragging herself through the life she built.

Christy began her nursing career in 2003 and holds a Master of Science in Nursing Education. With over two decades of experience spanning critical care, leadership, and education, she brings a rare combination of clinical precision and a gift for translating complex health information into guidance real people can actually follow. She specializes in restoring metabolic health, optimizing hormone balance, and creating customized wellness pathways through functional medicine.

Her approach is defined by an unwavering commitment to detail, a deep belief in patient autonomy, and a refusal to accept normal as the end of the conversation. She is not just a clinician. First, she is an educator, an advocate, and a woman who decoded her own autoimmune thyroid pattern before helping hundreds of others do the same.

She says it simply: I didn’t just improve labs. I got my life back. And now I help other women do the same.
